The antenna apparatus consisted of stepper motors and controllers. The motors were used to independently move antenna arms that contain the receive (RX) and transmit (TX) antennas. The antenna arms were constructed such that the centerline of the RX and TX antennas were in the same horizontal plane as the center of the EUT. The antenna arms allowed the placement of the RX and TX antennas at discrete incremental distances.

The antenna apparatus allowed the TX and RX antennas to be positioned (under software control) to accommodate the three test scenarios: reflection, scattering, and penetration.
