Design Review
In general, EMI problems come from numerous sources and manifest themselves
in many ways. The recommendations described below have a cumulative
effect when combating EMI problems. In our experience, we have found
that when a design incorporates changes such as those discussed below,
emissions from the design are significantly reduced. Usually, we cannot
point to a single change that contributed to the reduction of EMI,
but instead have found that the improvement is due to an additive effect
of all the recommendations that are incorporated. Thus, we recommend
that all the following modifications be implemented. When a constraint
prevents a specific modification from being implemented, Rhein Tech
Laboratories (RTL) and our client's engineers would discuss
the recommendation/modification and constraints, and investigate other
modifications that accomplish the same goal as the original recommended
modification.
The recommendations presented by RTL to our clients are
specific to the particular product system design, but the guidelines
can be applied
to the other PCBs systems. Specifically, most Artwork would benefit
from the type of recommendations presented below. This presentation
highlights the benefits of the kind of services that RTL can provide
for its clients. Recommendations with respect to grounding strategy,
Oscillator, Vias, clock and signal line terminations, capacitor decoupling,
PCB stack-up, Backplane, shielding and grounding by clicking on learn
