NEBS Testing Services: GR-1089-CORE & GR-63-CORE
The Telecommunications Act of 1996 pertains to the development of industry-wide Generic Requirements specific to telecommunications equipment including integral software and customer premises equipment (CPE).

Suppliers to telecommunication service providers are required to comply with GR-1089-CORE and GR-63-CORE. To meet your needs, Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) testing services provided by RTL comply with the Generic Requirements of GR-1089-CORE, (Electromagnetic Compatibility and Electrical Safety Generic Criteria for Network Telecommunications Equipment standard) and GR-63-CORE (Environmental standard).

The requirement of GR-1089-CORE provides criteria for telecommunications equipment systems and services, and about factors influencing interoperability and network integrity. The standard specifically pertains to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and electrical safety criteria.

GR-63-CORE provides criteria for equipment used in a network environment or central office. It addresses the environmental effects of equipment used in central offices, equipment placed in outside plants at locations such as controlled environmental vaults, electronic equipment enclosures and huts; and uncontrolled structures such as cabinets and network equipment located on a customer's premises. RTL will work with you on your NEBS needs to:
• Ensure Generic Requirements met through pre-compliance testing and EMC consultation during product development
• Design a customized RBOC submittal package to your RBOC specifications
• Demonstrate your NEBS compliance with a thorough, professional report.

RTL provides testing under GR-1089-CORE EMC and Electrical Safety, to the following:
• ESD Electrostatic Discharge
• Radiated and Conducted Emissions
• Radiated and Conducted Immunity
• Lightning and AC Power Fault
• Steady State Power Induction
• Electrical Safety
• Bonding and Grounding

RTL provides GR-63-CORE environmental compliance testing through our partnerships.
