National Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL)
Electrical safety testing and certification must be conducted by an approved, OSHA-recognized
NRTL. Though not mandatory for products intended for the U.S. market, the NRTL label
signals product compliance with the applicable CSA, UL and/or IEC safety standards, a
valuable tool for marketing and evaluation purposes. For electrical product safety testing,
we utilize our vendor relationship with NRTLs.
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
Authorized to participate in UL and CSA witness test programs to test and prepare the UL
or CSA technical file for product recognition and listing. UL and CSA both test to the same
harmonized Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards,
making their certifications virtually interchangeable.
