If Layouts on PCBs are not Correctly Performed, What Effects Does it Have on MIL-STD-461 Tests?

When Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) are not correctly designed, adverse electromagnetic compatibility EMC issues can occur:

  1. Poorly designed PCBs can generate more electromagnetic interference (EMI) than properly designed ones. The effect of such poor design is that performance of other electronic devices in their vicinity is affected.

  2. The electronic device will be susceptible to EMI experience, which leads to reduced performance, errors, and malfunctions in electronic devices.

  3. It is difficult for such electronic devices to meet standard limits during MIL-STD-461 EMC compliance testing and to obtain the necessary certifications for sale in a specific market.

  4. Such PCBs are also more susceptible to EMI-induced damage, and the risk of product failure increases.
