The FCC is seeking comment on a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields, which was published in the Federal Register on April 4, 2020. The proposed rules include:

  • Expanding the range of frequencies to which RF exposure limits apply.

  • Applying the same localized exposure limits that have already been established below 6 GHz for those above 6 GHz.

  • Revising and clarifying the methods for averaging RF exposure (in both time and area) during compliance testing.

  • Addressing new RF exposure issues regarding wireless power transfer devices.

  • Defining wireless power transfer devices.
