What exactly goes into a valid EU Declaration of Conformity?

A valid EU Declaration of Conformity must identify the product, the manufacturer or authorized representative, and the applicable EU directives and harmonized standards to which conformity is declared. This typically includes the EMC Directive, the Low-Voltage Directive (where applicable), and the Radio Equipment Directive for wireless products. The declaration must reference the specific standards used to demonstrate compliance and must be signed by a person empowered to bind the manufacturer. The Declaration of Conformity is not a marketing statement. It is a legal document that asserts the manufacturer has performed the conformity assessment and maintains the supporting technical documentation.
